Good value for yearly plan

I was looking for a cost-effective solution for my database backups and stumbled upon SimpleBackups. I ended up getting the annual plan to save a bit, which was a smart move. The pricing felt fair for what you get, especially compared to others I looked at. It felt worth the purchase for sure.

Easy to use backups

I signed up for SimpleBackups because I needed something to handle my server backups without a fuss. It was really straightforward to set up, and now I don't even think about it. Everything just runs in the background. Pretty happy with it, honestly.

Comprehensive backup solution

I needed a robust solution for both server and MySQL backups, and SimpleBackups delivered. The ordering process was simple, and I quickly got access. Setting up the backup schedules was intuitive, allowing for daily and weekly snapshots. I also appreciate the Slack notifications feature; it keeps me informed without being intrusive. I tested the backup recovery for a small file, and it worked flawlessly, which is the main thing. The multi-cloud storage option is a big plus for redundancy, and I linked it to both Amazon S3 and DigitalOcean Spaces. It's been running for a few months now without any hitches, offering good peace of mind. Support replied within a few hours to my initial question about API backups during the trial.

A lifesaver for my data!

Oh my goodness, SimpleBackups is absolutely incredible! I set up server backups and some database backups, and it just works like magic. It's so reassuring to know my data is safe and sound. I'm definitely going to tell all my friends about this. I will absolutely shop again for any future backup needs!

Solid backup service, minor quibble

Overall, SimpleBackups is a solid choice. I used it for PostgreSQL backups, and it's been reliable. The setup was mostly smooth, though finding the exact integration for my specific cloud provider took a little digging in the docs. Delivery of the service itself is instant, of course. Customer service was responsive when I had a question about multi-cloud storage options. It does what it promises, but an even more intuitive initial setup wizard would be a nice improvement.

Does SimpleBackups store my actual data or just manage the backups to my own cloud storage? Kinda paranoid about giving them access to everything.

P Priya H. 2 months ago
They don't store your actual backup data, no. They just manage the process of getting it from your server to your chosen storage like S3 or Google Drive. So your data stays with your provider.

D Dana 2 months ago
Nah, they're just the orchestrator. Your backups go straight to your own AWS, DigitalOcean, etc. They never hold your actual files.

Are there any limits on how many backups I can schedule? Or is it unlimited once I'm on a paid plan?

O Omar 2 months ago
It depends on your plan tier, I think some higher tiers have more capacity for backups/servers. But for most typical use cases, it's pretty generous.

M Mia Silva 2 months ago
I don't think there's a hard limit on the *number* of backups you can schedule, but more on the number of servers or database instances you're backing up, depending on your plan. Check their pricing page for details.

I'm running a bunch of Postgres databases. Is SimpleBackups good for that or is it more geared towards MySQL?

D Derek 2 months ago
Totally supports Postgres! I use it for several Postgres instances, works flawlessly. Also does MongoDB, MariaDB, SQL Server, Redis, etc.

Anyone know if SimpleBackups does discounts for annual plans? Trying to figure out if it's worth it to pay yearly.

L Laura Brooks 2 months ago
Yeah, they do. Pretty sure you get a couple of months free if you go with the yearly option. I think it worked out to like 15-20% off for me.

R Raj Nguyen 2 months ago
Yep, definitely cheaper annually. I saved a decent chunk, it's usually around two months free which is a good deal.

Is SimpleBackups better than SnapShooter for server backups? Can't decide between the two.

T Tom Kaur 2 months ago
I used SnapShooter for a bit then switched to SimpleBackups. Found SimpleBackups' UI a bit cleaner and easier to set up for my specific database types. Both are good though.

C Cody 2 months ago
Depends on your needs, honestly. SimpleBackups has broader storage provider support from what I've seen, especially if you're using more niche S3-compatible stuff.

Heard about SimpleBackups offering startup discounts. How do you get one of those? Is there a special code or something?

D Daisy 2 months ago
They do sometimes, yeah. Usually, you'd find a specific promo code for it, often announced on their blog or through partners. Check their site around tech events too.

I got a startup discount once. It was a code I applied at checkout. Not always available, but worth looking out for.

Thinking of switching to SimpleBackups for my DBs. How does their free trial work? Do I need to put in my credit card details right away?

A Anna 2 months ago
Nah, you don't need a card for the trial. Just sign up and you get 14 days to play around with it.

R Ryan 2 months ago
Can confirm, it's a full 14-day trial, no card needed upfront. I tried it out for a week before deciding to subscribe.
